You cannot sign in to Microsoft Lync 2010 using the version installed. Do you want to download the currently support version?

Issue:  Cannot sign in to Lync.

Error message: You cannot sign in to Microsoft Lync 2010 using the version installed. Do you want to download the currently support version?

Problem statement:

This issue occurs because Lync 2010 incorrectly handles the web ticket that is issued by the Lync Server 2010 front-end server. When your Lync Client version is not supported or older one that times you receive the above error.

No need to uninstall your existing Lync client. Got to Microsoft site and download the .msp package (URL mentioned below under resolution).

Resolution:

Open Lync 2010 client and note the Lync client version like Version 4.0.7577.0: Existing version.
Completely close the Existing Lync 2010 client.

3.    Download the Windows Installer Patch (.MSP) for Lync [http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14490].

4.    Download and Install the package :-

Download the Lync.msp x86 package

Download the Lync.msp x64 package, as per Operating System requirement.

5.    Close the IE and MS Office application.

6.    Open Lync 2010 client check the application version. It will look like, Version 4.0.7577.4384.
7.    Enter the sign-in name and try to sign-in..

Thank you.
