How to display picture on Lync without Ad?

Recently I have received many queries regarding picture on Lync client. Actually people want to display picture on Lync however they don’t want to contact Administrator or touch to active directory.

There are multiple methods to setup or show Photo/Picture on Lync.

Here the different Methods:

1.    Add your picture in Active Directory (your corporate) environment.

[Active Directory (AD) has an attribute (”thumbnailPhoto”) to store a thumbnail portrait photograph of each user].

2.    Upload the picture on your internal site (SharePoint site) and use the path.

3.    If you don’t have internal site then use public site however sites must be accessed in corporate network. You can use professional site like Linkedin. J

Step by process:

Here I will show you simple and secure method to display picture without using Active Directory and SharePoint site:

          Note: You must create an account on Linkedin site (http://in.linkedin.com/). use free of cost.

1.    Once you create account on Linkedin site, click on profile and upload your best picture. I mean where you are looking good.

2.    Then right click on picture and paste in notepad (note the picture URL address / path).

3.    Open Internet Explore and paste the address and see whether your picture display or not. It will show, then

    4.    Open Lync client > Click on Option button. As showed in figure 01.

 

 

     5.    Click on ‘My Picture’ there you will see different options. Like figure2.
  

6.    Check mark the option:  ‘Show a picture from a web address’ and paste the URL address from  Notepad (from Lindein site picture address). See the figure2.

   

7.    Now time to connect your picture to Lync client, so Click on ‘Connect to Picture’ button.

8.    Wait for a minute and click ok OK.

9.     You will see your picture on Lync and other will see your picture instantly. Like below and enjoy :)
