Lync-Skype Connectivity

Lync-Skype Connectivity Settings.

Now Lync- Skype connectivity is possible and you will get your access your contacts between Lync and Skype vice versa.

Thank to Microsoft to give us excellent opportunity to have great experience in Lync- Skype without making big changes in your existing environment.  

IMP Note:

1.    PIC federation supported includes Lync Server 2013, Lync Server 2010, and Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
2.    Federation is required to enable Skype users to communicate with Lync users in your organization.
3.    Lync users must be enabled for public IM connectivity by their Lync administrator. 

There are multiple things which you need to keep in mind before doing actual configuration.

1.    First you should initiate the provisioning process for Lync - Skype connectivity if you are using Lync Office 365.

a.     Sign in to the website, https://pic.lync.com, using your Microsoft Windows Live ID.
Select the Microsoft licensing agreement type.
 

 
c.     Check the box verifying that you have read and accept the Product Use Rights for Lync Server.    
d.    On the Initiate a Provisioning Request page, click the appropriate link to initiate a provisioning request.  

e.     Then give the Access edge server FQDN.              

2.    Initiate the provisioning process for Lync - Skype connectivity
Using Office 365


3.    Sign in to Office 365 and then open the Lync Online Control Panel. 

 
4.    Go to External communications and under Public IM Service Providers, click Enable. See the above image.
   5.  That’s it J

Configure federation and PIC Using Lync Server 2010 / 13

1.     Log on Lync Server Control Panel.

2.    Click on to Federation and External Access.

Under Edit Access Configuration – Global

[Check mark the below points]

a.     Enable partner domain discovery

b.    Enable remote user access

c.     Enable anonymous user access to conferences

d.    Click ‘Commit’

 
 




Configure at least one policy

1.    Click External Access Policy - under ‘Federation and External Access’.

a.     Checked ‘Enable communications with federated users’.

b.    Checked ‘Enable communications with XMPP federated users’.

c.     Checked ‘Enable communications with remote users’.

d.    Checked ‘Enable communications with public users’.
 
 
 
 

     This is the all you need to do from you administrative end.
