Issue: Unable to access old meetings after updating simple URL in Lync 2013 topology.
Recently I came across issue where users are unable to access existing / old meetings after changing the simple URL on Lync 2013 server.
There was some changes on simple URL per requested however received complaint from multiple user after the URL changes. User can schedule new meeting and user it however unable to user old meeting.
When I checked simple URLs found that new URLs are active and no old URLs on Lync topology.
Basically the active URL used when new meetings are scheduled. if you change a meeting or phone access URL after it has been published, you are preventing users to joining existing meeting or conferences.
Best practice to change URL:
In case you want to change the active URLs best way is to create new active URL and leave the current URL inactive state. So when user joining old meetings inactive URLs can be used.
See the below screenshot.
When you remove inactive simple URLs?
You can safely remove inactive URLs after all conferences or meetings that use it have expired or been deleted.
