What's new in Skype for Business for iOS?

Skype for Business for iOS includes a new look and feel, at-a-glance view of your upcoming meetings and conversation history, easy call control, and other improvements. And, if your organization uses Skype for Business Server 2015, the ability to communicate with your Skype contacts using IM, audio call, and video call.

Will the update happen automatically?

You can go to the App Store to download Skype for Business.

Does Skype for Business run on all versions of iOS?

Skype for Business runs on iOS 8.0 and later. If you're using Lync on an earlier version of iOS, continue to use it.

I'm using Lync 2013 for iOS but my desktop has Skype for Business

The update to Skype for Business is available through the App Store to all users with iOS version 8.0 or later. To see which version you have, tap Settings (Settings button on the iPhone and iPad) > General > About. Once the update is installed, your contacts and meetings will be there and will work just like they did in Lync. If you're using an earlier version of iOS, you'll continue to use Lync 2013.

You will not be able to update to Skype for Business.

To use Skype for Business for iOS you need a Skype for Business or Lync account—typically the same user name and password you use when signing in at work or school. If you're already using the desktop version of Skype for Business, then you have a Skype for Business account. You can download it from the App Store. Can I see my conversation history on my iOS device?

The conversation history on Skype for Business for iOS devices is now synced with Microsoft Exchange. This means that conversations that occur on your Skype for Business mobile device will be displayed on that device’s conversation history and also on Skype for Business.

You can show your entire desktop or just a program to everyone in a Skype for Business Meeting, call, or instant messaging (IM) conversation. However sometime this feature does not work and give different errors.  Error message: ·Cannot start Desktop/Application Sharing due to network issues. ·An error occurred during the screen presentation. Resolution: There are multiple thing which may affect application/desktop sharing. 1.Make sure application / desktop sharing enabled on Skype for Business / Lync Server. SfB /Lync Control Panel > Conferencing > Conferencing policy > select Global or create new policy and set enable ‘Enable application and desktop sharing’.
