Unable to join Skype for Business/ Lync meeting remotely using Mac Book.

Issue: Unable to join Skype for Business/ Lync meeting remotely using Mac Book.

Problem statement:

Recently I came across very strange issue. Skype for Business/ Lync Meeting join was working remotely using windows computer/laptop, Mobile app however meeting join was NOT working using Mac book..

Resolution:

There was no issue when Windows client join meeting means external meeting Join URL and reverse proxy was working.

Also Skype for Business meeting join was working correctly internally using Mac Book hence there is something wrong externally or on Reverse Proxy only.

Hardware load balancer was working correctly and all required port was open on external firewall hence concentrated on Reverse Proxy server.

Even Reverse Proxy was working because remember windows client was able to join meeting correctly so this was strange issue.

Hence I reset the IIS on reverse proxy server. (I use IIS ARR for Reverse proxy)

Command: IISRESET

This actually did the trick and meeting join started externally using Mac Book.

I don’t know what was different when Mac Safari browser was joining meeting.  Looks like when I try to join the meeting using Mac, this was quering the meeting URL which will go through the reverse proxy, here it might not activate the Lync client and the traffic will flow through the reverse proxy, joining a meeting might fail if there are any issues with the reverse proxy.

Thank you.

  1. I had the problem after a Stop-CsWindowsService and a Start-CsWindowsService on a Frontend Server Farm. Restarting all Servers solved the problem. Next time I'll try IISRESET on all servers.

Add-ins name is Lync Meeting Scheduling Outlook Addin or Skype meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013. Resolution: By default Lync Meeting Scheduling Outlook Addin or Skype Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013 installs wit load behavior "Load at Startup". However due to some conflict users Lync or Skype add-ins load behavior get changed to loaded instead of "Load at Startup" had to re-enable Lync Meeting Add-In in each time Outlook 2013 was started as it was not set to "Load at Startup". Look at the below screenshot. Now question is how we can change load behavior …
